Comment is anti-Russian

Having witnessed the continuous attack on Russia on Comment is Free since Georgia launched its callous attack on South Ossetia last Thursday, I finally gave up on commenting on the contents of the most recent anti-Russian piece and decided to throw in the towel. I don't usually like doing this, but here's my comment on Ilana Bet-El's article - yet again worthless - on Putin's Power Point (Hohoho!):

Georgina [editor of Comment is Free], why all these Russophobe articles? It's reached a point of absolute absurdity. There has to be a reason. Has the editor of the Guardian recently been done over in Russia or something? Someone must hold a personal grudge and is trying to work through it by asking for more and more anti-Russian propaganda...

...and it is just that: propaganda. It's lazy, meaningless junk. The pinnacle of this barrage of anti-Russian venom has to be reached at some point (I thought Denis MacShane's article today was an absolute low point; worse still than the young think tankers last week who all looked alike). Please can we have an explanation why we have had a gazillion articles distorting quite blatantly the facts. The only worthwhile article I disagreed with (content-wise) was Neal Ascheson's article. All the other anti-Russian articles have been disgusting. Isn't there something in the CiF guidelines that talks about incitement to hatred?

I can't be arsed continuously dissecting the contents of these articles anymore, because there are so many factual and analytical errors. These articles are pure propaganda. I am therefore resorting to ad hominem attacks and platitudes. That's what the quality of these articles deserve. They all say the same, anyway:

- The Russians are dreadful.

- The Russians attacked freedom-loving cutsy little Georgia (itself naive and innocent, and sooooo beautiful unlike anti-American countries like Belarus)

-The Russians will kill us all.

-The Russians know/don't know what they're doing

- 1938, 1956, 1968, 2008; all the same

[- Russians are freedom-hating totalitarian fasco-communists with only one thing on their mind: Invading countries and killing the respective inhabitants]

[- Disagreements with these premises point to a Chamberlain-Stalin-admiration]

- USA! NATO!

Give us a fucking break.

What we have witnessed is one of the most blatant propaganda events in the west during which events were changed while they were happening to suit ideological agenda. Sadly, this has not been confined to only a section of the mainstream media or indeed to British media; it has been widespread throughout the west. This intellectual terrorism must be resisted at all costs.
